What do we mean by “fine touring” in China?
Fine touring in China certainly includes travel itineraries with the finest accommodations and dining experiences available in each city. Our hotels are centrally located so individual exploration of historic districts is easy and rewarding, and our restaurants are chosen with a view to exciting culinary discovery.
But for China Advocates, fine touring means more than the usual luxury tour.
In our view, travel to China must reveal the spirit of the country, both past and present. Daily touring must delve into the heart of China from touchdown on Chinese soil to a last goodbye.
This means that everyone involved in tour design and operations must be conversant with the great renaissance that is occurring in China today.
It is not enough to make tour arrangements. Our goal is to create an experience that reveals the wondrous excitement of China’s reemergence in the modern world as well as the recovery of her great artistic and spiritual traditions.
The hallmark of the China Advocates’ experience is the dovetailing of daily touring with the insightful exchanges with Chinese artists, spiritual masters, or scholars, as well as naturalists, entrepreneurs, and government officials.
We seek to share our understanding of China and what Chinese culture is and to infuse our expertise into a multifaceted tour experience.
Certainly, tour design depends on the interests of the group, but a common element to all successful China travel is the aspiration to enter the rich world of the Chinese.
Fine touring, then, means a life-enhancing experience of the Middle Kingdom. It is our view that China is one of the world’s great civilizations, though one still poorly understood in America. We aim to provide insights into the living tradition that is China, such as may awaken awe and amazement in the inquisitive American traveler.
